To work as a dentist means to work in ergonomically unfavourable working postures. Many dentists work in a forward position without resting the hands or arms and they also work a great deal in a rotated position. To work in these positions often leads to pain.

Research shows that working as a dentist causes weekly problems for approximately 50% of them. Two out of three dentists, about 65%, suffer from back, neck, shoulder, arm and hand complaints to some extent. In addition, 40-50% run the risk of becoming disabled, where 1/3 have its origins in working posture. The 30% that leave the profession due to mental health problems often have posture-related problems.

Joseph Wouters, a Dutch researcher and specialist within the field of dental ergonomics, has, since 1994, had the idea to find the most favourable working posture for dentists. His goal was to find the answer to the question: How can we help and encourage dentists to develop a healthy working method to prevent them from becoming disabled?

Joseph Wouters has together with Optergo AB found the answer and they have developed the unique concept Optergo Solution. The optical solution angles the view and enables a working posture which more or less eliminates the problems that arise with the current working conditions.
